Rebuilding Your Credit After Bankruptcy: Credit Cards

There are many different financial institutions that offer credit cards. Often many of these banks will offer multiple credit cards. There are four major "brands" of credit cards: American Express, Discover, MasterCard and Visa.

Most credit cards usually fall under the category of "unsecured debt," which is debt that doesn't require you to put up collateral (i.e. houses or cars). There are also Prepaid credit cards that have you place a cash balance that you can draw against. These help people with no credit history or bad credit to rebuild, and show that they can make timely payments.
